ABOUT THE INSTITUTION

BIT, an impressive campus situated in a serene surrounding at the foothills of the Eastern Ghats encompassing a sprawling area of 180 acres, is the fruit of a dedicated effort to provide quality education and to develop transferable skills to the future technocrats. The Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (BIT) is an energetic and vibrant higher educational   institution   promoted   by   the   Bannari Amman Group, a leading corporate house in southern part of India.  BIT is a well-designed campus with state-of-the-art facilities.

The institute offers 15 undergraduate programmes   and 15 postgraduates   programmes   and Ph.D. programmes in Engineering, Technology and Management.  The institution is accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ Grade.  BIT stood No.1 among the self-financing   colleges   in all India level in terms of industry institute partnership in a survey conducted by AICTE and CII and won the silver medal for the year 2012.  As a part of green   energy   generation   the institute has an installed capacity of 600kWp solar PV power generation.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in1996.It offers a 4 - year B.E Electrical and Electronics Engineering and 2-year M.E Power Electronics and Drives Programme, which are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi. B.E Electrical and Electronics Engineering programme was accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for 5 years. It has a distinguished team of faculty consisting of 11 Doctorates and 25 Post Graduates of which 15 have registered for Ph.D., in different areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and rich industrial /research/teaching experience.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

With our easy to use and accurate software, you can virtually prototype simple to complex electromagnetic and electromechanical devices.MagNet 2D/3D is a powerful simulation software which engineers and scientists worldwide use for the design of motors, sensors, transformers, actuators, solenoids or any component with permanent magnets or coils. Be more efficient. Virtual prototyping can save both time and money. Multiple configurations can be explored quickly, providing insight into performance for design improvements which reduce costs.

MagNet offers both 2D and 3D electromagnetic field simulations, all within the same user friendly interface:

  • Magnetostatic

  • Frequency dependent (AC)

  • Time varying, including the effects of moving components

They can be linked to ThermNet for coupled thermal-electromagnetic field simulations. The complete list of features detail all of the solvers, results and tools included in MagNet to help you save time on each design cycle.

Recent Improvements

  • New coil definition tool which detects current path and direction

  • Significant speed up due to new algorithm for Newton convergence

  • Algorithmic parallelism improvements in all 2D and 3D solvers

  • Improved nonlinear surface impedance approximation

  • Easily model laminations with the perfect electric insulators boundary condition

  • Predict the surface force density on a component

  • Multicore mesh generator, solvers and post-processor for even faster results

ELIGIBILITY

  • Faculty   in   Engineering    /Polytechnic colleges/ Research Scholars

  • Engineers   from   R&D   Organizations/ Industries

  • UG/PG Students
